#WOOTD - Confidence

My 41 year-old self can say with certainty, “Confidence is one of the most important building blocks to our success.” In my teens and twenties, I was a successful athlete, dated good men (I can see them this way now ), had a ton of great friends, went to college, but I spent these years with very little confidence. It wasn't until I was pregnant with my first daughter that I realized if I wanted her to be confident and live the life of her dreams, I would need to show her what a confident woman looked like that was living the life of her dreams from that day forward.

Being pregnant for the first time brought a lot of "new" into my life. Add being pregnant with a daughter who had Down Syndrome, which added a whole other level of "new". The short of it is, the "new" was my daily workout for my confidence. Everyday, sometimes it felt like I did “5-A-Days (sports analogy), I did something new, experienced something new and or felt a new sort of way. It was far from easy but totally worth it.

Today, I still get nervous, self doubt still sets in, but it no longer hits me like a ton of bricks. Fast forward 8 years and I still take my confidence to the gym every dang day, sometimes twice :)

Don't worry you don't have to get pregnant to experience this type of transformation. In fact, I hope this reaches people who are still only responsible for themselves. Where ever you are on your journey I offer you this to increase your confidence - Do something new everyday! You get to pick how challenging your “new” is. All of the lessons, victories, and proud moments will slowly build the most beautiful, and authentically yours foundation of confidence.
