Chaos to sort of calm

because a little prep (and small bills) can save a lot of last-minute chaos

Hello from an Exhausted Mama,

Back-to-school season is in full swing, and I don’t know about you, but keeping up with the endless forms, fundraisers, and chaos in years past has felt like a marathon. This year, I’ve set up a school organization station at home that’s already making things easier. Fingers crossed it’ll save us from the scrambling we did last year.

Next to my desk, I’ve got a spot for all those school forms that seem to multiply daily, plus an envelope with small bills so we’re not tearing the house apart (or cracking open piggy banks) when a fundraiser pops up. It’s simple, but I’m betting it’ll save us a ton of time and some colorful conversations.

Here’s the plan:

  • Prepping the Night Before: Laying out clothes, packing lunches, and getting backpacks ready at night. It’s a small thing, but it makes mornings so much smoother—and I’ll take all the help I can get in the morning!

  • Using a Family Google Calendar: I’m adding school events, activities, and deadlines to our shared family Google Calendar right away. We share the link with family, which means no more mass text messages to keep everyone updated when plans change.

  • Quick Evening Check-Ins: Each night, I spend a few minutes sorting through paperwork, filling it out and adding it to the calendar. It’s a simple way to stay on top of things.

Oh, and cutting back on wine during the week? Let’s just say it’s making this whole routine a lot easier and my face a heck of lot less puffier 😎

Hang in there, we’ve got this!

Excited for all the football and way less scrambling 🤞
